Meet Starlight, aka our rising Star! Star was raised with a family for two years before she was surrendered to the shelter in SC with no name. They called her “dog,” so the shelter staff gave her a name. She weighs in just under 30 lbs, 2 years old, so she is fully grown. Star arrived in VT with a clean slate. Star’s foster Mom is teaching her some basic obedience which is building up her skill set and confidence. With consistent and confident coaching from her foster, Star is learning to be brave and check in with her people when she is feeling unsure in new situations. She has done well with public outings to Pet Food Warehouse and Lowes. She loves most every human and in turn, everyone who meets her thinks she is the sweetest girl!

Star is super affectionate, prefers the comfort of being with her people, and loves to play, play, play! She quickly forms a bond and loves her people! She would thrive with a moderately active family, a quieter home where she could settle into a predictable routine and with family members who are not constantly coming and going. She does well with settling in her crate when you are away for shorter periods of 3-5 hours, but would much prefer a family who is home more often than not, or she would be happy to go to work with you.

Star enjoys the companionship of other dogs, and loves outdoor adventures. She loves opportunities to run and explore with her people, and a good game of tug and fetch. She knows drop it and will bring the toy back to you to keep the game going. She would be a good match for a confident canine sibling that can communicate his/her boundaries well. She would also be more than happy to soak up all the love and attention as a solo canine in the home. Cats are an unknown.
