Sky! We are soooo proud of Sky. This lady spent so much of her life in the shelter and before that has an unknown history. Because the shelter is over capacity, she was placed on the euthanasia list simply because she was there the longest and obviously overlooked. She came off transport thin, shut down, afraid of her new world and the unknown. Sky is about 2 years old and about 40 pounds.
This is where one of our lovely foster homes stepped in to be her hero. Together with a loving home full of well balanced pups, Sky took on her new world with her mentors and coaches by her side. What a difference! We will be forever grateful for the perfect foster home opening up space at the most urgent time for her.
Sky is now fully house broken and crate trained. Leask skill are in the works and she’s learning at a rapid pace, now that she has come to trust her handler and the dogs around her. She is an eager student. Sky goes on hikes everyday with her canine pack and her recall has gotten very good.
Sky has been introduced to people friends and their dogs. She is learning how to read and trust dogs and once feeling secure and comfortable she becomes super playful. She has been absolutely wonderful with kids and actively seeks out children if she sees them on a walk. She loves when “strangers” come to the house and hopes for an invite onto their lap.
Sky loves her toys and chews and equally enjoys being loved on. Currently she excels with the tug game! She is learning how to play with other dogs and seems to be quite good at matching playstyles. She can play respectfully with a rough and rowdy or be coached with a gentle and dainty. Oh, and if you’re looking for a low shedder and easy groomer, Sky can easily check that box. Her tricks include, sit, down, come, crate, name recognition and off. More are in the works to add to that repertoire.
Sky also lives with an elderly kitty which she does okay with, but a young kitty household might be a bit much for her and would need to be managed. A house with no kitties would be less of a distraction for her and less management for the family.
Sky is being fostered in Burlington, VT and will continue to build those skills so all of them can be easily transferred to the lucky family that welcomes her “home”.
