Brock is in search of a family! We believe Brock is closer to 1 year old as he seems to be going through adolescence, or also known as the teen stage of his life. This is a crucial time to get him enrolled in a training class, give him adequate daily exercise, be consistent and patient as it's a growth stage and he is still maturing, and so eager to learn some good life skills. When he plays he sometimes likes to mouth like a puppy and could accidentally hurt a child given his size and strength. To help set him up for success in a new home, his adoption fee includes a 4-6 week level 1 training class, or if adopter prefers, an in-home consult with a nearby trainer. We are happy to recommend a trainer to the family that adopts him. While he is in training, there should be a plan in place to manage him around children visiting, or on outings, to ensure that there are no incidents and give Brock a chance to be on his best behavior.
Brock is cuddly and affectionate with his people, and with his beautiful brindle coat and big blocky head, get ready to melt in his arms! He is clicker trained for loose-leash walks and would make a great walking and hiking companion, as he loves daily adventures out. He is crate trained, picks up commands quickly, and has nice manners in the house. He would love to accompany you on errands as he does enjoy car rides. Brock does show some reactivity when he is in a confined space and strangers approach him, such as in the car and his crate, but with patience and training exercises, is capable of learning a new and positive response. He has lived with and does get along with other friendly dogs (he can be selective with some male dogs), and will greet other dogs nicely with proper introductions.
Picked up as a stray in South Carolina and brought to shelter; American Bulldog/Boxer mix (best guess); approximately 1-2yrs old; 57lbs. Brock would do best in a feline-free home.
