More About Zara

Zara is an itty bitty Holstein pittie looking for a home ready for an expert snuggler. She is estimated to be 2 years old and is a petite 35-40 lbs with a sweet expressive face, and short little legs. Zara arrived in VT after spending some time in a South Carolina foster home loaded with other dogs and at least one resident cat and she got along with everybody. In her foster home in VT, she enjoys snuggling with the resident elder-bull but wishes he would entertain her requests to play. Zara would most enjoy a home with a playful (and snuggly) canine sibling and fenced in back yard for romping.

When her person leaves for work Zara willingly hops in her crate to spend the day resting after she extracts the filling from a kong. She plays with toys solo and might enjoy playing tug with another dog, but is not a fetcher. Zara enjoys using feeder toys for her meals and she is very food motivated making training a breeze. She is respectful of corrections by other dogs and humans and has shown no resource guarding. Zara is full of love, very affectionate, and loves to give kisses. She is quick to do her business in the fenced in back yard and hustles back to the door. She is house trained, but could use some assistance in developing a clear signal for when she needs to be let out. She has had a couple accidents in the house, but they are likely attributed to not completely emptying her bladder due to excitement and distraction of an upcoming meal. Zara is flexible in where she sleeps (crate, dog bed, or people bed) and makes the cutest little snores while she slumbers.

Zara is still getting used to walking outside on a leash and is fearful of noises while walking in the neighborhood. She is willing to accompany her people on walks and gains confidence when another dog is present. While on walks Zara politely greets other people and has decent leash manners. Her ideal family will be patient with this fear and willing to slowly teach her that she is safe outside on leashed walks.

Zara is a great mixture of funny and sweet and has been a challenge for her foster mom not to adopt. She will be a joy for whomever is lucky enough to become her forever family. Check out @jax_n_co on Instagram for more info on Zara's time with her foster mom in VT!
