More About SOPHIE

Sophie, our black beauty pitty who is looking for that special person/family who understands the love of Pitt Bull.

Sophie is petite for her breed at 40 pounds. She is about 2 years old and has been through at least 2 homes during her young life, not including foster homes. Sophie was recently returned to our rescue by her adopters after 9 months. During that time, while walking Sophie on a leash, Sophie was attacked by an off leash dog causing multiple wounds and a trip to the vet. Since that time, Sophie has become cautious of other dogs and was feeling trapped on a leash, resulting in barking at oncoming dogs. The owner was not comfortable having Sophie on her walks anymore and decided the best thing was to return her.

We enrolled Sophie in a board and train program to help her re-establish her confidence, work on basic leash skills once again and general basic obedience. All of which she has excelled at. With a confident handler, Sophie can walk on a leash with confidence.

Sophie also can integrate well with other canine friends in the home. She prefers mature, well mannered vs. over the top, in your face kinda energy. Sophie would also do fine as an only dog and would probably enjoy the one on one attention. Sophie is also great with kitties.

We are looking for a home that has experience with dogs and dog leadership so Sophie can continue to build her confidence and increase her skills. She loves to learn and anything you want to teach this girl, you will see that she will exceed your expectation.

Sophie also LOVES to run. She has good recall and is a true athlete in the woods. A large property would be ideal for her to get her zoomies out.

Sophie is crate trained and does well in the crate when left alone, but of course would prefer not to be left in the crate for long periods of time.

If you think you are the person/family for Sophie, please inquire about some video at kim@longtraildogs.org
