More About GAIA

GAIA! A Beautiful (2yr old) blend of Golden/Catahoula who causes heads to turn when people see her. She looks much like a Golden with many traits of Golden, but also has those mesmerizing blue eyes that catch your immediate attention.

Gaia came to our Rescue after being left at the shelter (with a heart full of worms) and with her litter of pups to care for. We were happy to make arrangements for her to come to Vermont and into a wonderful foster home where she was able to properly care for and raise her beautiful pups! All her pups have since found wonderful homes. Gaia has been treated for and has recovered from her heartworm treatment and is now ready to find her own family.

She has come such a long way from the day she came off transport. She was a scared confused Mama, doing her best to be brave for her pups. After her pups went to their homes, her foster family worked hard at building skills such as crate training, house breaking and basic manners in the home. She now willingly and eagerly rides in cars, she loves the water and true to Goldens, loves her squeaky toys and no amount belly rubs is ever too much. She is a people pleaser, smart and eager to learn new things.
Gaia is yearning for that special connection with a family. A family that has the time and commitment to continue building skills, teaching new things, building confidence and security. This next home must be Gaia’s forever home.

Gaia also has some Catahoula traits! Cathoulas are known to be highly intelligent and benefit from consistency, structure, patience and consistency in training. Catahoulas are a natural leader, which Gaia is. Gaia is a dog that can be an excellent “watch” dog as well as an excellent “therapy dog”. She would love a job (or two) and a proper amount of energy outlet to be a well-balanced dog.

Gaia’s ideal home would be for her to be the only fur child. She thrives on one on one attention and would be in heaven if all the attention were hers alone. She does well with other dogs in “daycare” and when meeting in neutral places, but her home is where she would like to feel secure and with her family.
Gaia loves to hike! She is great off leash, has decent recall and loves adventure. Older children would be a bonus for her as that means more people to love in the family and there is plenty of love within this girl to share!
