More About KellyBelly
KellyBelly is our absolutely stunning red Pit Bull mix who is a proud ambassador for Pitties everywhere. She is a happy dog that enjoys everyday in appreciation of surviving the shelter life and given a chance to be an amazing companion for a family of her very own. She is about 2 years old and weighs about 40 pounds.
She is kind, loving and tender. She engages well with other dogs and loves to meet new people. She is yearning to learn new things and would thrive with a family or companion that wants to teach beyond the basics. She rides well as co-pilot, has decent leash skills, house-broken and eager to please and be loved.
This is a special girl and already has melted many hearts on her rescue journey. Volunteers and grants have made it possible for her to escape the shelter, receive and recover from heartworm treatment and gave us the opportunity to once again learn how very appreciative a rescue dog could be.
We want to share with you a note from her foster mom in South Carolina who took Kelly from the shelter, into her home, loved and cared for her through her heartworm treatment and prepared her for her journey North to us:
KellyBelly truly exemplifies “joie de vivre”- joy of living. This girl loves life and lives in every single moment. On one hand, she is the life of the party! On the other? She’s an expert cuddle bug. Always up for an adventure in the great outdoors! Then it’s back home to nap on the sofa.
To think that she sat, unnoticed, in a small outside kennel for over 3 months used to make me sad. But not anymore. She has moved past that. In fact, when Kelly arrived at the shelter, it was probably one of the best days of her life. She finally was going to be given the chance to find a true home and happy life.
Our shelter has awesome employees and volunteers who work tirelessly to save lives. And Kelly is another life saved thanks to so many who have played a role in her chance at a new beginning.
I’m just thankful and happy to have been a small part of her journey through this life. So, today, my sweet and silly KellyBelly, I say “thank you and goodbye”. Go find and live your joy!
