Maisey (formerly Tiffany)

Maisey (formerly Tiffany)

Our beautiful girl Maisey is searching for a special home as she can be fearful in new situations, with strangers and unfamiliar noises that sometimes will scare her. Maisey is very friendly and affectionate with the people she trusts and would make a great pal and playmate for another confident dog, one she could learn from and find comfort in when she is feeling anxious and unsure of herself. She is also friendly with cats and even kittens. Maisey would do best in a quieter, kid-free home, where she can relax and settle into a more predictable routine. She is not high energy, but more of a laid back girl who enjoys daily walks and is learning to play fetch. Maisey also likes to go

Browning ADOPTION PENDING

Browning ADOPTION PENDING

ADOPTION PENDING...Browning is an 8 year old, Springer Spaniel, who is looking for a new home. She is approximately 50lbs, up-to-date on all vaccines, altered, micro-chipped, and great with dogs, cats, and kids. Browning is crate trained, knows commands, and is in great health. Browning’s family is moving and can’t take her with them. She is currently living in Georgia where there is an extreme overpopulation of homeless dogs and we do not want Browning to end up at the shelter with an unknown fate. She deserves better! We need to secure a family for her so she can get a ticket to ride north and start a new life. Please consider making this sweet girl a part of your family and giving her second

Vin

Vin

Hi Y'all! I'm Vince, my foster mom calls me Vincent or Vin (far cooler than Vin Diesel!). I LOVE; snuggling, walks, dogs, people, playing with toys, moving the toys around the house, sleeping in, the dog park, car rides, and of course the pet food store! I'm a really really good dog, I'm very gentle and kind. I would do great as a solo dog or as a second doggie addition. According to the shelter I'm great with small kids, foster mom hasn't seen me with them yet, but she totally believes it. Shepherd/Boxer mix, approximately 7 months old, 35 lbs If you dig what you are hearing.…apply to adopt http://longtraildogs.org/adoption-application/

DARLA

DARLA

Delightful Darla! Our black beauty Darla has been doing a great job in her foster home learning all the basic manners and skills giving her a great foundation to begin her journey with a family of her own. She is approximately 7 months old, sweet, curious and playful. She has baskets of toys that she ruffles through to pick just the right one. She is crate trained, potty trained and is learning her leash skills like a champ. She currently lives with other dogs and engages nicely in play with them. Her foster mom describes her as having medium energy. She loves her daily walks and would love a place to run. She is cautiously friendly with other dogs and people and gently engages once

ROSCOE

ROSCOE

Our Super Handsome boy ROSCOE has been surrendered to us by his owner who has had a change in her life that has resulted in the very difficult decision to find a new home for this lovely boy where he can once again be the special companion he was with her for so many years. ROSCOE is approximately 7 years old. Best guess of breeds might include lab; Swiss Mountain Dog, Border Collie, or maybe Pyrenees. He is a big, solid boy at 85 pounds, but is a gentle soul. He is a bit on the reserved side with strangers but will engage once given time. He is a complete love bug, loyal friend, snuggler, an excellent greeter to his owners and a pleaser. Roscoe

GIGI

GIGI

GIGI! Ms. Gigi is our gentle giant mix of Great Pyrenees/Border Collie! She is approximately 2 years old and full grown at 75 pounds. Gigi, like so many others, came from a Southern shelter (Alabama) as a Stray, after nobody came to claim her. Gigi is now in North Ferrisburgh, Vermont where she joined a family hoping to be a good companion for their other dog, however despite her playful nature, and good manners, the family have come to the realization that their current dog would be happier without a 2nd pup in the home. Gigi is a sweetheart. She loves people and kiddos! She engages all with equal opportunity for pets and belly rubs. Despite her size, she has learned pretty good manners during

KOSMO

KOSMO

KOSMO! All the way from Costa Rica, this little chunky nugget is a perfect family companion! He LOVES kiddos that love love dogs! That combination is perfect to keep both kiddos and Kosmo busy for endless entertainment! Kosmo is a happy, lively, active pup who truly enjoys every minute this new life has to offer him. He has proven to have decent recall off leash, doesn't wonder too far from his people and is eager to please and learn new things. He is working on basic manners both in the home and with new people. He is very excited to meet all new people and is learning to properly and respectfully say hi. He gets along with other dogs and would enjoy a canine playmate

Jackson

Jackson

So sweet and affectionate, Jackson likes meeting new people and is dog and cat friendly! He is currently in a foster home with other adult dogs, settling in nicely and learning everything he needs to know to grow into a well-balanced young man. He would love a home with an active family who will continue to train and socialize him, and include him in family adventures. 5-6 months old, 25 lbs, neutered, social, friendly, and playful. Jackson is in a foster home in White River Junction, VT waiting for his lifelong family to find him.

Tiffany

Tiffany

As you can see, Tiffany touched down in Vermont and instantly made a new best friend! A classic beauty and always smiling, it’s a mystery how this sweet girl ended up homeless and on the streets of South Carolina to be picked up by animal control and brought to the shelter. Tiffany’s foster Mom says some of her favorite things are playing with other dogs, she LOVES interacting with kids, wading in the water, and chewing on her pork roll. You can see her herding genes come out when she goes flat (while wiggling her rear) and tries to entice other dogs to romp and run and play with her. Friendly and affectionate, Tiffany is a great size and temperament for a family with children,

ABBY-GALE

ABBY-GALE

"Hi! My name is Abby-Gale. I may only have three legs, but that doesn’t stop me from hiking, playing and enjoying life. I love my foster family and my new canine friends! Every day is a new dog day for me and I'm loving life here in Vermont! I'm about 6-7 months old and ready to begin a new chapter in my life! I am great with other dogs and would be excited to make friends with a kitty some day. I love to snuggle and curl up in a lap or a dog bed but I also love to run around and play tug with my toys. When I am really happy, my tail wags so hard it feels like it’s going to fall

Salt

Salt

Salt was surrendered to our South Carolina partner shelter by her owner with another dog after the owner could no longer care for them. This pretty spotted mixed-breed girl is about 2 years old and a good size at 45lbs. She has surely had some puppies but was recently spayed, and is up-to-date on all vaccines and on flea/tick/heart worm preventative. Salt is tolerant of baths, being handled, and being picked up. She rides well in the car, and walks very well on the road with her harness. She likes other dogs but isn't in their faces, and entertains herself well - she loves toys! She is quiet in her crate and hasn't had any accidents. Very quiet in the house as well - in

PEYTON

PEYTON

This stunning little guy is PEYTON! He's about 3-4 months old and as cute as they come! He is a friendly guy who engages softly with people. He is not a wind up kinda puppy, but rather is a medium energy fella that tends to match whatever the energy happens to be at the moment. He enjoys playing with canine friends, likes new toys and he loves to learn new things from his foster family and is picking up on house manners quickly! He is cuddly, on the quieter side, not a barker and truly enjoys being part of a daily routine with the family. His ideal home would be with a family, with or without kiddos, and maybe another canine friend to learn from

LAYLA

LAYLA

Lady LAYLA is now ready to find her very own family. Sweet Layla was abandoned in South Carolina and was brought by animal control to our partner shelter. It wasn't long before she melted the hearts of the volunteers, but she was overlooked as she was older and had heartworms. The volunteers spent as much time as they could with her, learning about her manners and personality and after seeing the pictures and videos and their description of how sweet and gentle this lady is, we offered her Rescue. She has been in a loving foster family for a few months as we had her treated for heartworms. We are all thankful that the treatment is over and she is on the mend. Layla is

PEARL

PEARL

You ask about Ms. PEARL? Sweet? Absolutely Smart? yep House broken? Of course! . What more could you ask for? well, as her name implies, Pearl is true gem. While she likely spent most of her time outdoors as a stray, she enjoys the comforts of home and has fantastic house manners. Pearl has never met a stranger. She is a meeter and a greeter, loves to say hello to everyone, two legged and four! An unknown accident in her past left her missing a few toes on her left front foot but she’s still very mobile. A lover of all things, she’ll greet you with tail wags, kisses, and offer her belly for rubs. This 3 year old bully mix would easily fit into

MISTY

MISTY

MISTY came into our rescue after being surrendered by the owner for reasons of not being able to take care of them. We were happy to coordinate their transport from South Carolina to one of our wonderful foster homes while we find an ideal home for her. Misty is about 4 months old and about 12 pounds. We believe she is a Corgi mixe and won't be very big dogs when she's full grown. Misty came into the foster home with some reservations and a bit shy. A few weeks have gone by and she is a totally different pup, loving life, loves people, playful, active, smart and is tons of fun to be around Misty would love to have a family that nurtures her

LADY lion!

LADY lion!

Foxy LADY LION! This girl ended up at the shelter with a belly full of puppies! Thankfully she was taken into a temporary foster home in South Carolina and was able to raise her pups outside of shelter life! All puppies have gone to rescue but Lady stayed behind so she could be treated for her heartworms! Now, Lady has finished her treatment, recovered beautifully and is being fostered with one of our lovely foster homes in North Ferrisburgh, VT. We estimate Lady to be about 3 years old and a perfect size at 35 pounds! She is a little on the reserved side at first, but does gently engage when she's ready. She is looking for a lifetime companion, someone to take her for

Sweety

Sweety

Picked up as a stray and turned into our partner shelter in South Carolina, Sweety appeared to be well-cared for but her family never came for her. She has been well behaved in her foster home and has nice house manners. Always up for meeting new people, Sweety is gentle, warm, affectionate, a great snuggler, and would love to be your lap warmer! Other dogs with a bit too much exuberance are not her style, she much prefers mingling with lower-key dogs that are more her speed. Sweety loves her walks, a good roll in the grass, does pretty well on-leash, and will make someone a loyal, loving companion. 45 lbs, 3 years old, Shepherd mix, fostered in White River Junction, VT. Gravy Baby

Gravy Baby

It's all gravy baby!!! Gravy was a stray who found her way to Long Trail Canine Rescue's partner shelter in Darlington, SC on January 7th, 2019. She was underweight and had clearly spent most of her 2-3 year life as a mother to many litters of puppies. After we agreed to rescue this short stack, Gravy went into foster care down south to recover from her spay (no more puppies - hooray!), and receive treatment for heart worm. She arrived in the Upper Valley on June 16th, and is being fostered in Wilder, VT. She is a muscle bound low rider trotting around 60 lbs of love and fun on some short little legs. Gravy loves an adventure and is up for anything! Whether its

Puppies Logan and Lovey!

Puppies Logan and Lovey!

Born to a stray mom, siblings Logan (male, 17 lbs) and Lovey (female, 15 lbs) have been loved and well-cared for in a foster home since they were four weeks old and eating on their own. They have been well socialized with people, other dogs, and cats. Typical 10 week old pups, they are social, friendly, playful, healthy and ready to join active families who will spend time with training and give them outlets for exercise and play time. These family companions are well on their way to maturing into well-rounded, happy adults you can take anywhere. Lab/American Bulldog mix

Bernard (Bernie)

Bernard (Bernie)

This handsome boy was abandoned at a campsite and a concerned family brought him to one of our partner shelters in South Carolina after his owners could not be found. Bernard was held for an additional time at the shelter and still his owners did not come for him so we quickly made arrangements for this boy to come to Vermont so we could find him the family he deserves, one that won’t let him down again. He has quickly proved to be an amazing boy, easily integrating into a foster home with two female dogs, three cats, and a former male rescue dog Banks (incidentally, rescued from the same shelter!) who is a frequent visitor. Bernard is super friendly, easy-going, listens well, a good

Samson

Samson

Samson is a nice little pup! He loves squeaky toys and hasn’t chewed or unstuffed any of them. He likes to snuggle in bed with his people and Hazel, and older female puppy, at night and he will nap on the beds with her or in his foster person’s lap when she is sitting. He hasn’t had one accident in the house and seems to understand the term “go potty”. He does well in his crate if he has a Kong or a good chewy. He rides well in the car and is good on leash, no pulling. He was fearful at first of his foster’s 5 year old granddaughter but seemed to warm up to her after they settled in for a bit. Samson

Abby

Abby

"Hey! I'm Abby, I'm an amazing puppy. I'm 5 months old and I love everything. I love dogs, I love walks, I even love going on a run! I like playing in the water but I'm not crazy about actually swimming. I love going for hikes and being in the woods, I even love gardening. But if we need some time on the couch I'd really like to snuggle up with you. I'm pretty lazy in the morning, I kinda like sleeping in. I'm great on car rides too. I've seen cats from a distance, I bark at them sometimes but I've never really met one, foster mom says she thinks I'd do just fine with a cat. Foster mom says I'm one of the

TOOTSIE

TOOTSIE

Queen TOOTSIE! Tootsie is a 2 year old, 9 pound beauty that was turned in as a stray in a South Carolina shelter and was never claimed. True to chihuahua personality, Tootsie loves her people and is happy to join in whatever the daily activities will be. She travels well in the car, is great on and off leash and enjoys daily walks. Her thrown is the lap and probably her favorite place to be. She has good house-manners, has earned her freedom in the home when left alone, is not a yapper and gets along with other well mannered dogs. Tootsie's ideal home will be with a low/moderate active couple that enjoys a pint sized canine companion. Young kiddos in the home would not

BERT

BERT

BERT! He should be a movie star! Bert is one of those pups that just makes you smile with his looks! Above and beyond this handsome 20 pound little Terrier is personality plus! Bert is a fun, loving, playful active 1 year old who has a great balance of energy and down time. He seems to match whatever the energy is around the home. He loves being outdoors and engaging with people, playing games, and making new canine friends. He is also very good in the home when it's time for couch and cuddle time. He has good house manners, crate trained and quick to learn new things. He is not an excessive barker, he would be good for respectful older kiddos and an fairly
