CARLOS

CARLOS

Young, happy and full of life! CARLOS is just under a year old and this boy is all about bringing as much joy to the day as possible. He is an exceptional companion, enjoys being with people as much as other dogs. He has been excellent off leash and on. He is smart, learning manners quickly and takes good social queues from other dogs. He is about 25 pounds and we don't think he will get much bigger, maybe he will fill out a little more as he matures, but he's a nice size for a hiking companion as well as a couch snuggler. He loves toys, balls and sticks. He would be an ideal friend for an active couple, or an active family with

Bert

Bert

Hey Y'all I'm Bert the Squirt! At 4 months old I might still be a silly puppy but I’m smart, quickly picking up potty training and I am crate trained. I have a sleek black coat with some sweet brindle paws and being a Dachshund mix I will be small when I’m all grown up. I love people and I can totally hang out with big dogs. If there are a whole bunch of dogs though and too much excitement, I get really shy and I like to be held in the secure arms of my people. My favorite things are playing tug of war with my foster brother and running around, snuggling with my people, and going for walks as I'm great on a

Juniper (fka Alice)

Juniper (fka Alice)

Juniper is our 2 year old, 45 pound beautiful terrier/ retriever mix that is now looking for a family of her very own. She has had a rough start in life and ended up at the shelter with 9 puppies and watched them each die one by one. She was heartbroken, depressed and giving up. On top of that, she had a heart full of worms. She touched the heart of so many volunteers and all knew she deserved to be happy in a home. After learning more about her, we offered her rescue, we applied for a grant to treat her heartworms and we brought her to Vermont. She started to learn that life was good, people were kind and she looked forward to

Cooper (fka Phil)

Cooper (fka Phil)

Cooper is a big, lovable, energetic puppy who loves his squeaky toys, splashing in the water, cuddle time, and giving kisses. Cooper is looking for an active family who will give him outlets for play time, exercise, and training as he is still a pup and learning the ropes. Cooper sticks close by on off-leash hikes, he's friendly with cats and is a great playmate for other dogs. He's a big boy and doesn't realize his own size so he might knock over toddlers. Older children might be a better match for his size and playfulness. He loves his belly rubs before tucking him away in his crate at night. Cooper is house and crate trained, and would make a loving, loyal family member. Cooper

Dixie

Dixie

Dixie is the perfect little puppy! She has learned so quickly being in her foster home with the help of her moms and her foster siblings! She is friendly, she is social, she is happy, she is well mannered, she loves walks, she's good on the leash, she's picked up amazingly well with crate and potty training. This little girl is going to be super fun to watch grow, easy to train and easily win the hearts of everyone she meets. She loves to play with her toys, go for walks, splash in the water and is a super snuggler. She is 3-4 months old, lab mix with an awesome personality. She is being fostered in Burlington and looking for a home with plenty of

Wednesday

Wednesday

Spunky and smart, Wednesday loves to play with the other dogs even though they are three times her size....they play chase, tug and wrestle. She loves to be on the go! I pick her up and pet her and she is very loving, but as soon as she gets the opportunity she is off to play again, but does like to sack out next to her person when she is tired. She has done very well in her crate while I'm at work, she loves toys, would pick up fetch easily, and is good at self-entertaining when there is no one to play with. Wednesday would fit well with an active family who can give her ample playtime with either a canine playmate or her

Matthew

Matthew

Happy, Healthy, Bouncy and full of life are just a few ways to describe MATTHEW! 3-4 months old. Smart, fun, eager to learn and has been a pleasure to train! He is crate trained, really close to being potty trained, walks well on a leash and stays close off leash! He LOVES the water, even has taken to the kayak, although not sure how long he will fit on one. This boy will be on the bigger size, one look at his paws and longer legs makes us think maybe part Dane. Personality Plus, engaged with everyone he sees, two or four legs. Loves kids, although may be a bit bouncy for the younger ones. We would say he is a medium energy guy, needs

Zeus, Zane, Zack, Zion, Zoey, Zena, and Zarie litter of 7 puppies

This beautiful litter of 7 babies (4 boys Zeus, Zane, Zack, Zion, and 3 girls Zoey, Zena, and Zarie) were found as strays and brought to an already overcrowded shelter in South Carolina. They are scheduled to arrive in Vermont and ready for families to meet and take their new family member home on Sunday, July 15. Kerri

Kerri

Happy, social, active, friendly...Kerri is the ultimate snuggler, a quick learner, well-behaved, and genuine sweet heart! Her favorite things are spending time with her people, playing, and she's a swimmer so would love someone that will take her to the water on these hot days to cool off. She would be a great match for an active family who has the time and patience to raise a puppy, committed to socializing, training, plenty of exercise, play time and to be a part of family activities. Kerri is approximately 16 weeks old, 20 lbs., beautiful Collie/Retriever mix with the cutest curly tail!

Rue

Rue

Over the past few months we have gotten to know all about Rue as she has been well-cared for in one of our dedicated foster homes while she completed life-saving heartworm treatment and is now ready to join a lifelong family of her own. What we have learned about Rue is that she is dog friendly, not a big fan of cats, has nice house manners, is easy going, and walks nicely on-leash. Rue’s foster Mom has been bringing her to basic obedience classes where she is attentive and focused in class and making great progress learning commands. Consistency with training and establishing leadership will be helpful as Rue can be pushy for all of the attention so she would do best with a family

Pierre

Pierre

Little French Poodle PIERRE! If you are looking for a loyal companion who will help you with every errand you have to do, Pierre is the one to hire! This little guy is true to the poodle's desire of being your best friend. He easily fits into any lifestyle as long as it includes him. He is aged between 7-9 years, but acts more like a 5 year old. He is in excellent health, enjoys every day to the fullest. He gets along with dogs, currently in a foster home with 2 kitties that he respects, housebroken and has good house manners. He is excellent both on and off leash and truly desires to be by your side. He loves riding in the car, going

Griffin

Griffin

A family in South Carolina awoke at 4:00 a.m., afraid to go outside as they thought they would be confronted by a burglar, only to find stray puppy Griffin (fka Happy) trying to move in under their porch. Griffin was then brought to the shelter by animal control and his former family never came for him. Griffin is now safe and settling into a temporary foster home, hoping that his next family doesn’t let him down. Griffin’s super cool, easy-going, gentle nature makes him a great fit for a home with kids, dogs, cats and fun family outings. He is quickly picking up on house and crate training, nice manners, walking on-leash, riding in the car and clearly thrives on the love, structure and stability

Sam

Sam

Sam is our little 17 pound chi/terrier blend. This pint size charmer easily makes friends with people and small dogs. He has been a great little foster dog, has good house-manners, is wonderful off leash and on, has decent recall and is a blast to have walking or hiking. He is also loves to snuggle with you on the couch or in bed. We would call Sam a medium energy little guy, he loves to run around outside, taking in the sights and smells of other little critters, but he can also settle in the home nicely. He would do well with other little dogs in the home or as a single dog that has an active family to include him in their daily activities.

Daisy

Daisy

Hi Everyone! My name is Daisy and I am a sweet and wonderful Southern Belle. I am currently living on a farm and love to be outdoors, active and constantly with my human companions. Though I am in my senior years, I am as spry as youngster and I would be great company for long walks and hikes. My new vet says I am in amazing shape for my age. My heart is strong, I have great teeth and I have no signs of arthritis. The only way you would know I am old is my “little bit of gray”. I am in a home with other dogs right now, but I really need a home where I am the only dog and the center

Jacob

Jacob

Jacob is our handsome smart, goofy, snuggly ball of energy. He loves long walks through the woods where he gets to sniff out everything in his path. He is working on his leash manners, both on and off leash. He is a quick learner so and is progressing nicely. Jacob is a super fun, interactive, playful guy and enjoys every day to it’s fullest. He takes direction nicely, food motivated, quick on his feet and very athletic. He would be a great candidate for agility or other sporting games. He has never met a stranger and gently engages with all people, big and small. He has good social skills with other dogs and even dog savvy kitties! Jacob is also a champion snuggler and worked

Bella

Bella

Bella is a 6-year old, spayed, black lab mix with the most beautiful blue eyes. Through no fault of her own, this is the second time that a change in family status has resulted in Bella losing her home. Bella was lucky enough to be taken in by a kind and caring family member while we search for a lifelong family who will cherish her for the wonderful companion that she is. True to her breed, Bella is good with everyone…kids, cats, dogs, and loves human companionship. Some of Bella's favorite things are water and swimming, eating, sleeping in your bed, and endless snacks. At approximately 55 lbs, her diet has been cut back a bit so she can reach her ideal weight. She is

Zeta

Zeta

You won’t find more of a four-legged love child than Zeta! This pint sized (24 pounds) sweetheart will always have enough love to share with the people that mean the most to her. She is a 1 ½ year old happy, wiggly greeter at the door and will happily be held close and snuggled. Zeta is intelligent and intuitive. She has already completed successfully her first recall class and is a champ in the home and practicing outdoors although sometimes the squirrels can be a little much for her to stay completely focused. 🙂 Zeta is a skilled leash walker, rides well in the car, loves to go on adventures and run errands. She would be an ideal hiking companion or maybe even a kayak

Theo - ADOPTION PENDING

Theo - ADOPTION PENDING

Just a few days ago Theo was stuck in an overcrowded shelter in South Carolina worried about his future...today he is with a foster family….hiking, exploring, and sharing beautiful views of Mt. Ascutney in Vermont…his tail has not stopped wagging! Theo's former family turned him into a shelter along with a litter of puppies. He was terribly underfed and neglected. Poor guy is skin and bones and is so grateful for regular meals. Despite a former life of neglect, he is quickly falling into a routine, enjoying nutritious meals, treats, toys, a soft bed, and will bury his head gently into your body, so loving and affectionate. He is a big fan of getting belly rubs and giving kisses. Theo is also making fast friends

Cookie

Cookie

Turned into the shelter because her former family is having a baby, we cannot believe that anyone would give up such a perfect companion! She is so amazingly friendly and knows some basic commands like sit and shake, and is brushing up on some manners. Cookie is everyone's best friend… loves other dogs, is just fine with cats, and greets new people with a tail wag and a smile. She's also good for baths and handling, rides perfectly in the car, is very quiet, and is fine in her crate. She has the perfect amount of energy and would be a nice fit for a family who is looking for a young, well-balanced companion for fun adventures. 9 months old, 55 lbs, pointer/boxer mix

Stevie

Stevie

Are you looking for a companion with just the right mix of energy and cuddle time? Then you need to meet our incredibly affectionate and handsome Stevie! His foster Mom says that Stevie is brushing up nicely on his obedience skills and is mastering sit and wait. He's improving greatly with his leash walking around the neighborhood. Trail walking is so exciting for Stevie though, he wants to investigate everything and thinks he should meet and play with every other dog out walking! Foster Mom is working with him on replacing his excitement with some calmer manners. He is crate trained and housebroken. Stevie is full of life and just loves everyone and wants to be included in everything. He loves to play with toys,
