Salt

Salt

Salt was surrendered to our South Carolina partner shelter by her owner with another dog after the owner could no longer care for them. This pretty spotted mixed-breed girl is about 2 years old and a good size at 45lbs. She has surely had some puppies but was recently spayed, and is up-to-date on all vaccines and on flea/tick/heart worm preventative. Salt is tolerant of baths, being handled, and being picked up. She rides well in the car, and walks very well on the road with her harness. She likes other dogs but isn't in their faces, and entertains herself well - she loves toys! She is quiet in her crate and hasn't had any accidents. Very quiet in the house as well - in

PEARL

PEARL

You ask about Ms. PEARL? Sweet? Absolutely Smart? yep House broken? Of course! . What more could you ask for? well, as her name implies, Pearl is true gem. While she likely spent most of her time outdoors as a stray, she enjoys the comforts of home and has fantastic house manners. Pearl has never met a stranger. She is a meeter and a greeter, loves to say hello to everyone, two legged and four! An unknown accident in her past left her missing a few toes on her left front foot but she’s still very mobile. A lover of all things, she’ll greet you with tail wags, kisses, and offer her belly for rubs. This 3 year old bully mix would easily fit into

Sweety

Sweety

Picked up as a stray and turned into our partner shelter in South Carolina, Sweety appeared to be well-cared for but her family never came for her. She has been well behaved in her foster home and has nice house manners. Always up for meeting new people, Sweety is gentle, warm, affectionate, a great snuggler, and would love to be your lap warmer! Other dogs with a bit too much exuberance are not her style, she much prefers mingling with lower-key dogs that are more her speed. Sweety loves her walks, a good roll in the grass, does pretty well on-leash, and will make someone a loyal, loving companion. 45 lbs, 3 years old, Shepherd mix, fostered in White River Junction, VT. Gravy Baby

Gravy Baby

It's all gravy baby!!! Gravy was a stray who found her way to Long Trail Canine Rescue's partner shelter in Darlington, SC on January 7th, 2019. She was underweight and had clearly spent most of her 2-3 year life as a mother to many litters of puppies. After we agreed to rescue this short stack, Gravy went into foster care down south to recover from her spay (no more puppies - hooray!), and receive treatment for heart worm. She arrived in the Upper Valley on June 16th, and is being fostered in Wilder, VT. She is a muscle bound low rider trotting around 60 lbs of love and fun on some short little legs. Gravy loves an adventure and is up for anything! Whether its

Puppies Logan and Lovey!

Puppies Logan and Lovey!

Born to a stray mom, siblings Logan (male, 17 lbs) and Lovey (female, 15 lbs) have been loved and well-cared for in a foster home since they were four weeks old and eating on their own. They have been well socialized with people, other dogs, and cats. Typical 10 week old pups, they are social, friendly, playful, healthy and ready to join active families who will spend time with training and give them outlets for exercise and play time. These family companions are well on their way to maturing into well-rounded, happy adults you can take anywhere. Lab/American Bulldog mix

Bernard (Bernie)

Bernard (Bernie)

This handsome boy was abandoned at a campsite and a concerned family brought him to one of our partner shelters in South Carolina after his owners could not be found. Bernard was held for an additional time at the shelter and still his owners did not come for him so we quickly made arrangements for this boy to come to Vermont so we could find him the family he deserves, one that won’t let him down again. He has quickly proved to be an amazing boy, easily integrating into a foster home with two female dogs, three cats, and a former male rescue dog Banks (incidentally, rescued from the same shelter!) who is a frequent visitor. Bernard is super friendly, easy-going, listens well, a good

Samson

Samson

Samson is a nice little pup! He loves squeaky toys and hasn’t chewed or unstuffed any of them. He likes to snuggle in bed with his people and Hazel, and older female puppy, at night and he will nap on the beds with her or in his foster person’s lap when she is sitting. He hasn’t had one accident in the house and seems to understand the term “go potty”. He does well in his crate if he has a Kong or a good chewy. He rides well in the car and is good on leash, no pulling. He was fearful at first of his foster’s 5 year old granddaughter but seemed to warm up to her after they settled in for a bit. Samson

Abby

Abby

"Hey! I'm Abby, I'm an amazing puppy. I'm 5 months old and I love everything. I love dogs, I love walks, I even love going on a run! I like playing in the water but I'm not crazy about actually swimming. I love going for hikes and being in the woods, I even love gardening. But if we need some time on the couch I'd really like to snuggle up with you. I'm pretty lazy in the morning, I kinda like sleeping in. I'm great on car rides too. I've seen cats from a distance, I bark at them sometimes but I've never really met one, foster mom says she thinks I'd do just fine with a cat. Foster mom says I'm one of the

TOOTSIE

TOOTSIE

Queen TOOTSIE! Tootsie is a 2 year old, 9 pound beauty that was turned in as a stray in a South Carolina shelter and was never claimed. True to chihuahua personality, Tootsie loves her people and is happy to join in whatever the daily activities will be. She travels well in the car, is great on and off leash and enjoys daily walks. Her thrown is the lap and probably her favorite place to be. She has good house-manners, has earned her freedom in the home when left alone, is not a yapper and gets along with other well mannered dogs. Tootsie's ideal home will be with a low/moderate active couple that enjoys a pint sized canine companion. Young kiddos in the home would not

BERT

BERT

Bert is a fun, loving, playful active 1 year old who has a great balance of energy and down time. He seems to match whatever the energy is around the home. He loves being outdoors and engaging with people, playing games, and making new canine friends. He is also very good in the home when it's time for couch and cuddle time. He has good house manners, crate trained and quick to learn new things. He is not an excessive barker, he would be good for respectful older kiddos and an fairly

KAY

KAY

Meet KAY KAY! Our beautiful husky arrived from our partner shelter after being surrendered by her owner for not being able to take the proper care of or have the time to give her and her sibling Drago needed. We were happy to offer them rescue in the Northern climate and promised to find them both wonderful families. Drago will treated for heartworms and then be available for adoption, but sweet Kay is heartworm free and she can start her journey with a forever home as soon as we find her an ideal family! Kay is just under a year and a petite frame for a husky at about 35-40 pounds. She has settled into home life with her foster family quite nicely! She learns

FELIX

FELIX

There is a whole lotta love and fun in this little 6 pounds package known as FELIX! This guy is super fun, super happy, loves people and enjoys the company of other dogs. Don't let his size fool you, this guy is also a hiking, off leash champ! Loves to explore, but stays close and responds really well to direction and recall. He is housebroken, loves to learn tricks, awesome snuggler in bed and of course loves to keep laps company. He also enjoys car rides, sunbathing and yardwork! FELIX is about 1 year old and is looking for a moderately active family. Respectful kiddos would be great too! A family that would like to include him in daily routine and weekend adventures would be

MARSHALL

MARSHALL

Hi! My name is Marshall. People call me a handsome bullmatian from Fort Worth, TX. My foster mom pulled me from the really scary shelter and moved me all the way to New Hampshire! She tells me I’m a really good boy, but the first two years and eight months of my life weren’t easy. The scary shelter guys found me on the streets, then I spent four months in a loud, dirty puppy jail known as the shelter. This was a scary place for me and being behind bars made me terrified of people. They would walk by, stare in my kennel, I would cower and growl to prevent them from coming in, not realizing I was losing any chance I had in finding

Guthrie

Guthrie

Hi, thanks for checking me out. If you have a minute, I have a tale to tell. You see, the first part of my life wasn't so great. I landed in a high kill shelter where I was afraid and didn't dare to come out of my kennel. Nobody who visited the shelter took notice of me so there I sat with no chance of being adopted. My time was coming to an end soon as I was on the list of dogs to be put to sleep. As luck would have it, a kind person saw my plea for help and decided I deserved a second chance. Since then, my life took a turn for the better! I was taken into a wonderful foster

Smitty

Smitty

Meet Smitty the most handsome Bluetick Coonhound ever and super sweet temperament to match! Smitty is very social and friendly with humans and other dogs. He is a little too interested in cats, so a home free of furry felines might be a better fit for Smitty. He is gun shy, which is most likely the reason why he ended up in the shelter as he prefers to be a loving and loyal family companion rather than a hunting dog! But with his hound DNA, we think he would enjoy the opportunity to do some scent work or tracking. Smitty is crate trained and working on his house manners and obedience skills, already mastering a great “sit.” Come have a play date with Smitty and

Bethany

Bethany

She has finished heartworm treatment and is looking forward to coming to Vermont (arriving May 18) to start a new and better life. Now she just needs a foster or adopter who will give her that second chance! The shelter staff describe Bethany as sweet, gentle-natured, walks nicely on leash, a bit timid and looks to her handler for guidance. Bailey's puppies...Percy, Jax, Forest, Chloe, Piper

Here is a sneak peek at mama Bailey’s five precious puppies scheduled to arrive in Vermont on Saturday, May 11 and will be ready to join lifelong families. These little fuzz muffins were born 8 weeks ago in an amazing foster home in North Carolina, where they are being well socialized, well cared for, and loved to the fullest. The sweet daughter in the foster family named each puppy herself…3 boys Percy, Jax, and Forest, and 2 girls Chloe and Piper. With her wonderful temperament and loving nature, mama Bailey has raised some healthy, happy, well-adjusted babies. These pups have a wonderful foundation for their new families to build on and will be available to active families who are prepared to make a lifetime commitment

Luke

Luke

Luke was rescued from a shelter in South Carolina and brought to Vermont back in January so he could receive lifesaving treatment for heartworms and then search for a loving family. With an extended stay in a foster home while he recovers from heartworm treatment, his foster family has learned that Luke is very sweet, smart, and food motivated. He has learned some basic obedience including sit, down, and working on come and stay. He is being fostered with three other dogs and once he felt safe in his new environment he relaxed and lives in harmony among the other dogs, but would be just as happy to be an only dog too. Luke has been an easy foster dog, is housebroken, crate trained, has

Wally

Wally

How Wally ended up as a stray wandering in a Walgreens parking lot we will never know. We rescued Wally and placed him in a home with cats and a toddler and they are just way too exciting for Wally, so we have discovered that he would do best in a home with older children (teens+) and no little furry pets to chase. He would love to share a home with another doggy companion though. His foster Mom says he is smart, energetic, and funny! He is doing well at obedience school learning some clicker training, and the instructor thinks he is so smart and energetic that he would excel at agility or a dog sport. He is solidly kennel trained, house-broken with a clear

Chanel

Chanel

Stunningly beautiful with her unique light brindle stripes and velvet to the touch, Chanel is one Class Act through and through! She is low key, loving, and currently in a foster home where she is working on building her confidence and feeling safe in certain situations. With her infectious smile and steadily wagging semi-shaggy tail, she will quickly win over your attention. Chanel is gentle natured, friendly, huggable, and loves to be by her human’s side. She is also playfully interactive with other dogs. She tends to be on the submissive side, but is only looking to be accepted and part of the group, hoping to fit it. If you are looking for a walking or hiking companion, Chanel loves to spend time outdoors and

GINGER

Ms. GINGER has a such a big personality in a little body! This girl is a charmer, a comedian and a snuggler all in one! She's is about 2 years old, we think a min pin mix? She weighs about 18 pounds. She is fun, she is bouncy, she is active and smart! Ginger LOVES other dogs, especially ones that are her size to run, romp and play with. She is learning all of her house manners quickly, even learned the doggie door! She enjoys outdoor adventure, she is working and excelling on off leash recall. Ginger is currently living with 2 other dogs and a kitty and all live in harmony. She even shares her bed with the kitty! Her ideal home will be

STAR

STAR

STAR fits her name perfectly! This lovely golden lab mix has a wonderful personality. She absolutely loves life and all it has to offer. She is happy, she is playful, she is active and she is smart. She loves kiddos, is being fostered with a kitty and will most likely be friends in no time. She is working on her house-manners, already has decent recall and has good leash skills. She greets people with a wagging tail and loves to engage in play. Our guess is about 6 months old and currently about 35 pounds. Her ideal family will be one that wants to include a pup in their daily lifestyle and provide ample amounts of outdoor fun and activity. She will also benefit from
