LOLA

LOLA

LOLA! A very kind, loving and HAPPY dog! We are not really sure of her past as she was brought in by Animal Control. She was pregnant, heartworm positive, had a wound on her nose, an imprint around her neck where she was probably tied and missing some front teeth AND her back foot. The consensus is that she was either caught in a trap and chewed her foot off; or was used as a bait dog. We will never know, but what we do know is that Lola , notwithstanding her past is, is living every day as a happy, full of life dog! Lola has been treated for her heartworms, her wounds have healed AND we even had a very special prosthesis made

PENNY

PENNY

PENNY! A beautiful 6 +/- year old Yellow Lab mix is now in need of finding a new family to join. She is a very loved, taken care of member of a family now, but since a baby has joined the family, Penny has become overly anxious and has a hard time settling with the new baby energy in the home. The family has tried hard to make things more calming for her with trainers, veterinarians, etc.. but it has been decided that Penny would be much happier in a quieter home without children or other pets. Penny needs a dog savvy family that can give her the time and training, and one on one attention she needs to once again become a confident dog

DONOVAN KITTY

DONOVAN KITTY

PERSONALITY PLUS! This handsome boy DONOVAN is about 5-7 years old and is ready to entertain a family of his own! This guy is super social, very engaging, playful, cuddly and always seeking affection. He enjoys the company of other playful kitties and lives in a home with respectful dogs. He is current on vaccinations, FELV/FIV tested negative and neutered. Why he spent 3 years in a shelter, we will never know. Thankfully one of our foster mom's saw him and obviously reminded her of her own kitty (that she rescued from the same shelter) that looks and acts just like him! If you are looking for a kitty that acts more like a dog, and want a special feline friend, send in an application!

WHITNEY

WHITNEY

WHITNEY! Our special little Golden Bear is looking for a special person or persons to be her family. Whitney is beautiful on the outside and a sweet, shy soul on the inside. She has worked very hard to come out of her shell with her foster mom and foster canine siblings. She is happy, social and engaging now that she has had a safe and secure world and is ready to find a forever family that can provide her a similar home. We think Whitney is around 4-5 years old and she’s about 35 pounds. Whitney will need a fenced in yard and another well balanced canine friend in the home to provide her comfort, stability and a play friend. Whitney has earned free roam

LILY

LILY

LILY! This little girl is a gem! She is sweet, low key, a tad on the shy side, gentle, softly engages and is learning that snuggling feels so good. Lily is about 3-4 months old and being fostered in a home with kiddos, kitties and other dogs. She gets along with them all fabulously. She is learning her basic house manners including potty training, like a star. She searches for her people, interested in learning, seeks out her canine friends for play and is very respectful of kitties. Her foster mom describes her as medium energy, attentive, respectful and eager to please. We are looking for Lily's ideal home which would be with a family that has plenty of time to bring up a well

Lare Bear

Lare Bear

Hi Y’all I’m Larry! I also respond to Lare Bear, Bear Bear, or just puppy. I’ve taken a long time to come out of my shell at my foster home, I’m very shy. But now that I have, I’m playful, adorable, and very well behaved! I absolutely love my fellow dogs, I feel most comfortable around them so I’ll do best in a house with another dog who can teach me the ropes and help build confidence. I’ve been to the dog park with my foster brother Reggie, what an amazing place! I licked every dog in the face! I love to play with humans or independently. I really like sleeping in and I have the bladder of a CHAMP. I’ve spent a lot of

Serenity

Serenity

Stunningly beautiful with her unique brindle and white coat, Serenity politely engages with all people and is playfully interactive with other dogs. She is currently in a foster home where she is brushing up on basic obedience skills, crate training, house manners, and building her confidence in new situations. She enjoys going to work with her foster Mom, hanging out in the office and mingling nicely with co-workers. She is young, medium energy level, loves to be outside, so a family looking for a companion for long walks, hiking, outdoor play time with humans and other dogs would be a great fit. Just send in your application and say, "She's the one for me!" 1-2 years old, terrier mix, 47 lbs

Ms MAE!

Ms MAE!

MS. MAE! Ms. Mae is looking for a home where she can release the instincts of a Coonhound! She has had a lovely family for 2 years, but it has been realized that living in the “city” of Burlington is not an ideal lifestyle for the freedom spirit of this lovely girl. She loves and is loyal to her current mom and dad. Engages in attention, eager to learn and please, loves adventure, enjoys toys, runs like the wind and knows a good couch snuggle. Ms. Mae probably didn’t have a good experience prior to her being adopted with kiddos. Kiddos make her nervous and un-settled, so she will need a home without kiddos. We think Ms. Mae would thrive in a home with an

SYDNEY

SYDNEY

Sweet SYDNEY has completed her heartworm treatment and is now ready for her furever family! Our sweet, sensitive golden girl of about 37 pounds is a little shy at first, dipping her feet to test the waters kinda gal, but once she warms up she shows off the best wiggles and waggles and incites you to be her friend with her sweet demeanor, riveting eyes and comedic facial expressions. She guarantees to make you laugh with the cutest and funniest faces you’ll ever see! Sydney has done really well working on her leash manners and has enjoyed meeting all the other dogs that have come her way. She’s a little shy when meeting some people but once she’s sniffed them over, she’s eager to be

RUBY

RUBY

Now Available: RUBY! Ruby is our 10 month old mixed breed pup from our Partner Rescue in Costa Rica. Ruby was found as a young pup, either abandoned or left on the beach with an injured eye. Thankfully, one of our passionate volunteers took Ruby and her siblings off the beach and provided a temporary home for them and giving them the love, nutrition and vet care they needed. Ruby’s eye was beyond treatment and the best thing that could be done for Ruby was to remove her eye. She was a trooper through surgery and has fully recovered. Ruby’s luck again changed when one of our flight angels visited Costa Rica and offered Ruby a ride back to Vermont so we can find her

Maisey (formerly Tiffany)

Maisey (formerly Tiffany)

Our beautiful girl Maisey is searching for a special home as she can be fearful in new situations, with strangers and unfamiliar noises that sometimes will scare her. Maisey is very friendly and affectionate with the people she trusts and would make a great pal and playmate for another confident dog, one she could learn from and find comfort in when she is feeling anxious and unsure of herself. She is also friendly with cats and even kittens. Maisey would do best in a quieter, kid-free home, where she can relax and settle into a more predictable routine. She is not high energy, but more of a laid back girl who enjoys daily walks and is learning to play fetch. Maisey also likes to go

Browning ADOPTION PENDING

Browning ADOPTION PENDING

ADOPTION PENDING...Browning is an 8 year old, Springer Spaniel, who is looking for a new home. She is approximately 50lbs, up-to-date on all vaccines, altered, micro-chipped, and great with dogs, cats, and kids. Browning is crate trained, knows commands, and is in great health. Browning’s family is moving and can’t take her with them. She is currently living in Georgia where there is an extreme overpopulation of homeless dogs and we do not want Browning to end up at the shelter with an unknown fate. She deserves better! We need to secure a family for her so she can get a ticket to ride north and start a new life. Please consider making this sweet girl a part of your family and giving her second

Vin

Vin

Hi Y'all! I'm Vince, my foster mom calls me Vincent or Vin (far cooler than Vin Diesel!). I LOVE; snuggling, walks, dogs, people, playing with toys, moving the toys around the house, sleeping in, the dog park, car rides, and of course the pet food store! I'm a really really good dog, I'm very gentle and kind. I would do great as a solo dog or as a second doggie addition. According to the shelter I'm great with small kids, foster mom hasn't seen me with them yet, but she totally believes it. Shepherd/Boxer mix, approximately 7 months old, 35 lbs If you dig what you are hearing.…apply to adopt http://longtraildogs.org/adoption-application/

Duke

Duke

Once living a life of neglect, Duke has received lots of TLC and all of the medical care he has needed, including a professional dental cleaning, and has put on some much needed weight. Duke is now a much happier, healthier boy and is ready to interview with families looking to love and cherish an older, more distinguished fella, who is still very active and young at heart. Duke is crate trained, gentle, and has the sweetest temperament. In his former life he was most likely an outdoor dog that lived with a pack for hunting, so he is working hard on his house manners and would benefit from a patient family who will continue his training, or join an obedience class. In his foster

DARLA

DARLA

Delightful Darla! Our black beauty Darla has been doing a great job in her foster home learning all the basic manners and skills giving her a great foundation to begin her journey with a family of her own. She is approximately 7 months old, sweet, curious and playful. She has baskets of toys that she ruffles through to pick just the right one. She is crate trained, potty trained and is learning her leash skills like a champ. She currently lives with other dogs and engages nicely in play with them. Her foster mom describes her as having medium energy. She loves her daily walks and would love a place to run. She is cautiously friendly with other dogs and people and gently engages once

ROSCOE

ROSCOE

Our Super Handsome boy ROSCOE has been surrendered to us by his owner who has had a change in her life that has resulted in the very difficult decision to find a new home for this lovely boy where he can once again be the special companion he was with her for so many years. ROSCOE is approximately 7 years old. Best guess of breeds might include lab; Swiss Mountain Dog, Border Collie, or maybe Pyrenees. He is a big, solid boy at 85 pounds, but is a gentle soul. He is a bit on the reserved side with strangers but will engage once given time. He is a complete love bug, loyal friend, snuggler, an excellent greeter to his owners and a pleaser. Roscoe

GIGI

GIGI

GIGI! Ms. Gigi is our gentle giant mix of Great Pyrenees/Border Collie! She is approximately 2 years old and full grown at 75 pounds. Gigi, like so many others, came from a Southern shelter (Alabama) as a Stray, after nobody came to claim her. Gigi is now in North Ferrisburgh, Vermont where she joined a family hoping to be a good companion for their other dog, however despite her playful nature, and good manners, the family have come to the realization that their current dog would be happier without a 2nd pup in the home. Gigi is a sweetheart. She loves people and kiddos! She engages all with equal opportunity for pets and belly rubs. Despite her size, she has learned pretty good manners during

KOSMO

KOSMO

KOSMO! All the way from Costa Rica, this little chunky nugget is a perfect family companion! He LOVES kiddos that love love dogs! That combination is perfect to keep both kiddos and Kosmo busy for endless entertainment! Kosmo is a happy, lively, active pup who truly enjoys every minute this new life has to offer him. He has proven to have decent recall off leash, doesn't wonder too far from his people and is eager to please and learn new things. He is working on basic manners both in the home and with new people. He is very excited to meet all new people and is learning to properly and respectfully say hi. He gets along with other dogs and would enjoy a canine playmate

Jackson

Jackson

So sweet and affectionate, Jackson likes meeting new people and is dog and cat friendly! He is currently in a foster home with other adult dogs, settling in nicely and learning everything he needs to know to grow into a well-balanced young man. He would love a home with an active family who will continue to train and socialize him, and include him in family adventures. 5-6 months old, 25 lbs, neutered, social, friendly, and playful. Jackson is in a foster home in White River Junction, VT waiting for his lifelong family to find him.

Tiffany

Tiffany

As you can see, Tiffany touched down in Vermont and instantly made a new best friend! A classic beauty and always smiling, it’s a mystery how this sweet girl ended up homeless and on the streets of South Carolina to be picked up by animal control and brought to the shelter. Tiffany’s foster Mom says some of her favorite things are playing with other dogs, she LOVES interacting with kids, wading in the water, and chewing on her pork roll. You can see her herding genes come out when she goes flat (while wiggling her rear) and tries to entice other dogs to romp and run and play with her. Friendly and affectionate, Tiffany is a great size and temperament for a family with children,

ABBY-GALE

ABBY-GALE

"Hi! My name is Abby-Gale. I may only have three legs, but that doesn’t stop me from hiking, playing and enjoying life. I love my foster family and my new canine friends! Every day is a new dog day for me and I'm loving life here in Vermont! I'm about 6-7 months old and ready to begin a new chapter in my life! I am great with other dogs and would be excited to make friends with a kitty some day. I love to snuggle and curl up in a lap or a dog bed but I also love to run around and play tug with my toys. When I am really happy, my tail wags so hard it feels like it’s going to fall

Bernard (Bernie)

Bernard (Bernie)

Bernard (Bernie) was abandoned at a campsite and a concerned family brought him to one of our partner shelters in South Carolina after his owners could not be found. He was held for an additional time at the shelter and still his owners did not come for him so we quickly made arrangements for him to come to Vermont so we could find him the family he deserves. Bernie quickly bonds with his people and easily integrated into a foster home with other dogs and cats. He is easy-going, listens well, a good leash walker, loves to snuggle in bed, medium energy, would enjoy a family that would include him on all their adventures as he is a super fun dog to take on outings…

Salt

Salt

Salt was surrendered to our South Carolina partner shelter by her owner with another dog after the owner could no longer care for them. This pretty spotted mixed-breed girl is about 2 years old and a good size at 45lbs. She has surely had some puppies but was recently spayed, and is up-to-date on all vaccines and on flea/tick/heart worm preventative. Salt is tolerant of baths, being handled, and being picked up. She rides well in the car, and walks very well on the road with her harness. She likes other dogs but isn't in their faces, and entertains herself well - she loves toys! She is quiet in her crate and hasn't had any accidents. Very quiet in the house as well - in

PEYTON

PEYTON

This stunning little guy is PEYTON! He's about 3-4 months old and as cute as they come! He is a friendly guy who engages softly with people. He is not a wind up kinda puppy, but rather is a medium energy fella that tends to match whatever the energy happens to be at the moment. He enjoys playing with canine friends, likes new toys and he loves to learn new things from his foster family and is picking up on house manners quickly! He is cuddly, on the quieter side, not a barker and truly enjoys being part of a daily routine with the family. His ideal home would be with a family, with or without kiddos, and maybe another canine friend to learn from

LAYLA

LAYLA

Lady LAYLA is now ready to find her very own family. Sweet Layla was abandoned in South Carolina and was brought by animal control to our partner shelter. It wasn't long before she melted the hearts of the volunteers, but she was overlooked as she was older and had heartworms. The volunteers spent as much time as they could with her, learning about her manners and personality and after seeing the pictures and videos and their description of how sweet and gentle this lady is, we offered her Rescue. She has been in a loving foster family for a few months as we had her treated for heartworms. We are all thankful that the treatment is over and she is on the mend. Layla is
