Turned into the shelter because her former family is having a baby, we cannot believe that anyone would give up such a perfect companion! She is so amazingly friendly and knows some basic commands like sit and shake, and is brushing up on some manners. Cookie is everyone's best friend… loves other dogs, is just fine with cats, and greets new people with a tail wag and a smile. She's also good for baths and handling, rides perfectly in the car, is very quiet, and is fine in her crate. His foster Mom says that Stevie is brushing up nicely on his obedience skills and is mastering sit and wait. He's improving greatly with his leash walking around the neighborhood. SPIRIT! Another ambassador for the bully mix! This little lady is quite the charmer with her compact little body of 45 pounds. She is very well mannered, food motivated and easy to train! She currently lives with giant breeds and toy breeds in the home and a barn full of critters outside the home. About 1 1/2 years old, Spirit is a happy girl. Luna is a very sweet 50 lb, 2 year old American field lab with very high play drive. She is a very active and smart dog who is motivated to learn a job. She has been raised in a loving home and has some pretty excellent skills. She has been involved with dock dogs; (LOVES the water) a frisbee club and even has learned basic skate-boarding skills! She also knows many tricks such as sit, sit pretty, play dead and crawl. SELMA, our lovely Black and Tan Coonhound is about 3 years old. She is a mild mannered lady although does have a pep in her step when outside! She loves the sights and the sounds of the New England air. MJ is our handsome 1 year old with amazingly beautiful eyes! He is a people person and will try hard to learn whatever it is you are asking of him. He is about 50 pounds and still has lots of puppy energy. He's been working on his house manners and is doing well! He is crate trained, decent manners in the home and his recall is good! He doesn't care to wonder to far from his people, so he will e an easy pup to train good recall. Oh the love of a hound, PLUS the love of a Great Dane all in one! This gentle giant is truly that. He is about 80 pounds, but ideal should be closer to 90 and will get there in time. Lucy and her housemate Ricky were taken from a neglectful home situation where they were used for breeding over and over and not given any health care. They were received into rescue in horrible conditions. Lucy had infected teeth, severely matted fur and an infected uterus! With lots of medical care and love we were able to help Lucy with all of her medical challenges. She has been in a loving foster home through all of her medical proceedings and recovery. Her house-mate Ricky was also in horrible condition and they both have been though so much together and count on each other for support. We are looking for a home to keep them together. This handsome fella is named Onyx and coming all the way from Costa Rica to meet his new family. He is 3 months old and has been raised in a loving foster home getting ready for his trip to Vermont. We are looking for a family ready to raise a puppy. Ready to give the time, commitment and patience it takes to work and train the puppy to be well mannered, balanced and happy. LuLu could be the happiest dog you could meet. She loves everyone and everything about life! She will bring laughter to your home any time of the day and warmth to your heart just by being in the same room. Mims (Mimoso = Cuddly in Spanish) is our 8 week old pup rescued from the Streets of Costa Rica. She is now in our foster home in North Ferrisburgh, VT learning how to enjoy life as a puppy! She is very social and outgoing. Her foster mom is working on the basic skills of crate training and manners. We are looking for a home/family that has the commitment to give a puppy including plenty of time for socializing, potty training and in a few months commit to social/good manners training classes. She learns from other dogs in the home and would be great for another dog looking for a playful companion.

Joy is a 6-year-old 60 lb. Black Mouthed Cur mix who was picked up as a stray in Darlington, South Carolina. She was named for her demeanor, and quickly became a staff favorite at the shelter. Joy spent several weeks with a foster home, and then made her way north to the Upper Valley in early July. Upon her arrival, Joy had some emergency dental work done, and then started her heartworm treatment in late August. She charmed all of the medical staff she has visited! These sweet, senior Dachsunds (most likely a mother/daughter pair) were surrendered to the shelter after their owner passed away. While they may have been very much loved in their former life, they arrived at the shelter in terrible physical condition and in need of extensive medical care to relieve their pain. After lots of TLC and nurturing in loving foster homes, these two sweethearts are in good health, are happy, getting lots of love and attention, and are finally ready to find a special family willing to open their home and heart to both so they can live out the rest of their lives together. Picked up off the street as a stray, little Peanut, Tanner and their mom Sugar came into our rescue from an overcrowded shelter in South Carolina. Little Peanut was not feeling well on the day of the transport to Vermont, so she is recuperating in a foster home in South Carolina until she arrives on August 5. Picked up off the street as strays, Sugar and her two pups Tanner and Peanut came into our rescue from an overcrowded shelter in South Carolina. Sugar is finished raising her family and her pups have been adopted...now it's her turn to find the loving family she deserves.
